As a student in the Medical Biotechnology degree programme, you will gain practical skills, and hands-on experience essential for a future career in the biotechnological or pharmaceutical company or biotechnology or health-care related research. You will explore diverse research methodologies, become prepared to design and conduct experiments, develop expertise in writing reports and learn to manage scientific projects.An ideal candidate is someone with at least an undergraduate (bachelor’s or engineering) degree in the following fields: biotechnology, biochemistry, medical biology, molecular biology, or related areas.

The programme combines a solid foundation in biology and chemistry with advanced knowledge in medical biotechnology, enabling students to understand the molecular mechanisms of diseases. Students are introduced to the principles of designing and producing modern biological drugs and biomaterials used in medicine and other industry sector. An integral part of the programme is extensive laboratory work, during which students acquire practical skills in handling biological materials, cell cultures, molecular and biochemical analysis techniques, and equipment used in research and diagnostic laboratories. Strong emphasis is placed on biological safety, working under aseptic conditions, and good laboratory practice .The programme also highlights clinical, ethical and regulatory aspects.

Graduates of the Medical Biotechnology programme are well prepared for work in diagnostic laboratories, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, research and development units, medical centres, as well as institutions involved in quality control and regulation of biomedical products. The programme also provides a strong foundation for further study in the field of biomedical sciences.
