Programme Contents
 

Includes marketing, financial reporting, business law and others, but also picks up current challenges, like leadership & organisation. It will allow you to specialise in your field of interest, e.g. marketing, accounting, service management or human resources, and will familiarise you with the methods of academic research in business and management. At the same time it will broaden your knowledge: Most modules take an international perspective on the topics they discuss. Learning will take place in small international groups and cover group works as well as small projects. The programme is taught completely in English.

Programme Structure

The MA.IB programme takes 4 semesters in total. MA.IB students spend their first academic year at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, where they are familiarised with the core subjects of international business. The third semester takes place abroad at one of our partner universities and is dedicated to the respective specialisation. During their fourth and final semester, students will work on their master's thesis either at the partner university or in Mainz. The program also includes an eight-week applied project, which is an internship / practical training period.

It broadens your knowledge by adding a truly international perspective to your business education and prepares you for middle management positions. Zulassung

If you wish to apply for the MA.IB programme at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, School of Business, you need to meet the following criteria:
 

1. You hold a bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Management from a recognized university (three years full-time or 180 ECTS minimum) with above-average results. (minimum requirement: ECTS mark C; if neither the national certificate of your first degree nor the diploma supplement provides the ECTS mark, please present a  certification issued by the degree-awarding institution which confirms that the average mark/grade achieved corresponds to the ECTS mark of C or better, or to the German mark of  2.5 or better. Marks from non-EU applicants will be transferred into German grades by uni-assist.)
   
    
2. You are multilingual. You speak at least three different languages:
   
   a) Excellent knowledge of English, proven by handing in:
   • high school or bachelor diploma if English is your native language; otherwise
   • bachelor diploma from a university in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom or the USA proving that at least 30 ECTS of business-related topics have been studied in English; otherwise
   • one of the following tests (not older than two years):
     • TOEFL with at least 92 points (internet-based) or 237 points (computer-based)
     • IELTS score of at least 6.5
     • TOEIC score of at least 800 points
        
   b) Basic knowledge of German, proven by handing in:
   • high school diploma if German is your native language; otherwise
   • certificates issued by government agencies, universities or language training institutes which clearly certify that you master the language at least on the level A2 of the Common European Framework (CEFR).
   
   c) Intermediate knowledge of a third language proven by handing in:
   • high school diploma if the language is your native language; otherwise
   • certificates issued by government agencies, universities or language training institutes which clearly certify that you master the language at least on the level B2 of the Common European Framework (CEFR).
   The MA.IB board of examiners decides upon the equivalence of evidence.
   
    
3. You are highly motivated. We ask all applicants to explain their motivation for studying the MA.IB programme in a written letter (of about two pages). The letter should also motivate and explain the choice for the partner university during your stay abroad.
   
    
4. You have a regional preference
   • Please hand in a list of your priorities (1-3) of (partner) universities for your stay abroad during the third semester.

Please:

• Add the application form (direct applicant or exchange student) when sending your application papers.
• Send certified copies of your certificates.
• Present clear and legal documentation that you fulfil the MA.IB pre-requisites.
• Note that the application deadline is June 15th of the respective year.

International Business (M.A.) an der Hochschule Mainz: Doppelabschluss

Ein Teil Ihres Studiums wird im Ausland stattfinden. Hier bieten wir eine Auswahl von über 30 Partnerhochschulen auf allen Kontinenten an. Mit ca. 10 dieser Partner bestehen Doppelabschlussabkommen, das heißt Sie können bei einem einjährigen Aufenthalt an der Partnerhochschule auch deren Abschluss erwerben. Bei einigen, insbesondere außereuropäischen Partnerhochschulen fallen Studiengebühren an.

Falls Sie schon Kontakte zu einer Hochschule im Ausland haben, an der Sie gerne studieren möchten, ist das nach Absprache mit uns ebenfalls möglich.
